A travel System is a must have for all parents. If you are into travelling and love the outdoors, then it is definitely a must-have. So, What is a travel System? -It refers to your baby’s car seat, carry cot, pram and stroller. All of them are a great way to explore the outdoors with your little one.
The number one reason why couples hesitate from investing in a travel system is that there is no way to be sure if your child will adapt to it and they are no small investment.I am sure like us, you too have heard of people who have purchased expensive travel gear for their kids and not used it enough. We were also stuck with the same doubt, because lilM had already rejected the idea of a rocker/bouncer and we really did not want to spend a bomb on this. So, we decided on a few things:-
- We will look for a cost effective option
- We will start using them early on with LilM
- We will look for something that can have prolonged usage
- If it does not work out for us, we shall pass it on or re-sell online
- We will look for products from known brands only
So, we had quite a few factors to keep in mind and I wasn’t sure I will find a good match for our needs. So, we began surfing through our options and that is where we bumped into the R for Rabbit collection that seemed to meet all the above criteria. Their entire travel system costs under INR 11,000 and you get a car seat, a carry cot, a pram and a stroller for that price. Their carry cot is also a car seat, and their pram can be adjusted into a stroller. So we found it quite appealing in terms of features and pricing, and we went ahead and purchased it.
The carry cot is infant friendly, and can be used from a very early stage. We started using it in when LilM was 5 months old. We used the carry cots mainly as a seat for her, wherever we went- airports, restaurants etc. In the phase before she learnt to sit by herself, this was very useful. We like to explore new cuisines and restaurants and we often (not always) find that the high chairs there are ill sized, ill maintained or not available altogether. So the carry cot saved the day there. We have rarely used it in the car though. But it sits well.
Coming to the the Pram/Stroller has so many features and options. This turned out to be a real good find. It is a little bulky, but it is very comfortable for the baby and also super sturdy. I have used it on dirt tracks without causing any damage to the wheels. It has 3 adjustable reclines and has good breaks too. But it took us a while to assemble it together. Lots of tiny parts and our non-engineering brains had almost given up, but we made it through with some teamwork. LilM uses the pram/stroller now as her chair when we step out. She has started walking well now, but tires out soon, I understand that she is better adjusted when she has some space to herself. So the Pram/stroller works out better for me than carrying her around (most of the time).

I am satisfied with the use of this travel system. I have used both these products extensively. I have shared some images of both the products in use, and also listed my take on the key factors one considers when we are planning to buy such products. But if you are looking at this blog to know about travel systems you should also look up baby wearing, something I am still learning about that, if I do get around it, I will share my thoughts as a blog for sure.
We made our buy through Amazon, because we are Amazon Prime members, the delivery is fast and we got to study many brands before making a choice. Speaking of brands, you can look for brands like Chicco, Fisher Price, LuvLap and Graco before you make your choice.
